Aas much as I am a fan of Transport and all things connected - AI should have really loved On The Buses, but I never took to it it one little bit
It was so Cheesy and the like and almost a insult to the Transport Industry - but on the plus side it had a fantastic cast at it's varying points in the Series - that was probably equal to the Carry On Films and allmost so too in that it was a farce like them.
If it was made in the 80s/90s or even now - I could see it actualy taking off with actors like Hugh Dennis and ex-soap actors and actress'. To sum up I guess it was a great show but truly "the wrong time, wrong place" in history, sadly as a comedy as interesting as I am sure that it was certainly meant to be by the writers
Reg Varney also played a drag performer in a seldom seen film from 1973 called The Best Pair of Legs in the Business, a bitter-sweet drama set in a seaside holiday camp.
It's actually on heavy rotation on one of the TV channels - can't recall, either London Live or one of the movie ones...
Stan has picked up the wrong washing. Blakey is confronted by the owner and it is full of women's undies. Blakey is arrested for being a knicker-snatcher. One dolly is Wendy Richard.
