  • Cheesecloth Shirts

Cheesecloth shirts were unisex clothing items. You could get them in every colour, no one could tell if they weren't ironed and they felt lovely and light in the summer months. Girls used to tie them in a bow above the waist.

had several of these late 70's /early 80's (that's mums for you )

They were though - in their defence - very light & cooling IIRC

I can't remember if I ever had one, but they sound much more comfortable than my first woollen school trousers, which felt like they were lined with sandpaper.

My Mum had to wash them with plenty of softener & eventually they were alright to wear.

          I loved my cheesecloth!

I had a blue and white checked shirt that I wore to death! I loved wearing it tied up above my waist.

                      Kaz, I love the pics!

I also recall the cheescloth shirts I wore as an early teenager; yellow and light brown I think. Mmm nice

Mum's and mine, often got mixed up and despite the fact they were unisex, I was horrified if hers ever turned up in my wardrobe!

I too had a cheese cloth shirt - and it was almost the same as yours Kaz...but I didn't look as good as you....and mine was a few years earlier...went well with my timex watch and oxford bag pants
