  • Chef!

Comic genius, Lenny Henry, was finally given his own sitcom between 1993-1996. Chef! was about an arrogant, bombastic chef and his relationships with his work colleagues and long-suffering girlfriend Janice. Obviously, Lenny had the main part as the chef, Gareth Blackdtock, who ran the kitchen at Chateau Anglais restaurant. It was well written and acted, but for some reason it wasn't actually very funny. There were three seasons of Chef!, accumulating 20 episodes in all.

I didn't think it was that bad. Some of Chefs rants on the quality of food were very funny.

Erkin (Roland) Mustapha played one of the kitchen hands.

        Re: Chef!

I have always been a fan of Lenny but even as a kid I can remember this show being pretty average. While I didn't mind watching it I also don't remember laughing out loud too much at it either. On the subject of Lenny Henry did anybody watch a stand-up show of his which was broadcast around Christmas 2002? I think it was called something like Lenny Henry: My Life and the whole routine was based around his experiences growing up as a kid, it was fantastic and a really feel-good show.
