I remember Sweet well, great stomping songs. The Rezillos did a fantastic version of Ballroom Blitz in '78, even better than Sweet's in my opinion.

Fox On The Run is in Guardians Of The Galaxy 2, if the trailer is anything to go by!

Ballroom Blitz was used for Suicide Squad.

My sister loved Sweet in the 0s, she had their albums and a poster on her wall.

Andy Scott recently formed a supergroup with Suzi Quatro and Don Powell called QSP. They got a deal with Sony Music and toured Australia heavily in February, and I got to see them in Brisbane. They were absolutely fantastic, and there were a number of younger people who are younger than their kids in the audience as well. The album QSP is doing well in the Australian charts, it's a mixture of originals and classic rock covers.

Sweet were a favourite of mine in the early 70s. Even now I remember at the school disco circa 1973 Blockbuster blasting out over the speakers, the kids dancing and a few teachers looking a little bemused.

I like most of their singles, until I bought a best of CD I'd only really heard the best known ones. They recorded a few singles before making it big, & their post glam ones are quite diffeent, but still good.

They weren't a bad wee band, some of their stuff sounded a bit heavy, Turn It Down, for example. I have their Greatest Hits CD.

So sad how many of our music heroes from yesteryear have passed on...
Recently, I found some editions of PopSwop, Melanie & Music Star magazines from 1973 / 1974. The Sweet, Marc Bolan, Michael Jackson and Elvis were all pin-ups of the era, so it felt a little eerie, reading about them all these years later.

I wasn't a big fan, but "Love is Like Oxygen" is very haunting.
