Oh Lori, by the Allessi Brothers.

I mean the lyrics are junk, but the musical arrangement fuses jazz instrumentation with pop styling and has a great summer feeling about it, perfect for 1977.

I'm aware 808 State had other chart entries including Pacific State, Olympic and Cubik, I thought there was only one in conjunction with the Mancunian Word Gun that is MC Tunes though

However, further investigation discovers "The Only Rhyme That Bites" was followed by "Tunes Splits the Atom" and made it to No 18 in 1990.

The proper definition of a 1HW is a number 1 single and then nothing.....but obviously this is not carved in stone! As a point of information Katrina and the Waves had a follow-up hit in 1986 with "Sun Street" which got to number 22. My favourite 1HW is "Heartache Avenue" by the Maisonettes which got to number 7 in 1982.
