Oasis were lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time hitting the scene just as 'lads' culture was rising but they were certainly, imo, not a patch on a number of bands from Manchester never mind the world.
The band that shone like stars above all others and again imo had their best period in the 90s...
Radiohead
To have an idea is ideal, to have an ideal is idiocy
i could name a hundred 90s bands that were better than oasis, they were ok and the hype got them filling stadiums, not their talent.radiohead, ocean colour scene, manics, verve, pulp, suede.lots of great alternative bands aswell,broadcast,jj72,amsterdam,ooberman.
Wet Wet Wet have always been my favourite band, though there are are so many differing "genes" of bands from the 1990s as there was from the 1960s/1970s/1980s too, but I think Oasis will have my vote for the 1990s. It was just a sensational time when Oasis were on starting to be more popular - this scene was almost like the 1960s for bands in the UK (even though I wasn't born then), after seeing what the 1990s were like I can understand what people appreciated about the 1960s but the 1990s were great regardless of Oasis I think. Others worth a mention were James, Blur, Pulp etc - all this added to the great era/feeling of being part of the 1990s in general I reckon/think
