this is a total long shot as you say you remember it being a male vocal but theres a cher song apparently called " alive again" that has lyrics close to that (not a fan at all of cher so dont know the song but google keeps throwing that up when seeking your lyrics)

I checked the Cher song just in case, but it wasn't that I'm afraid! Would have been amusing if it had turned out to be that. But nope, the search is still on... I will sort out that recording when I get a breathing space

With three suggestions I was really hoping one of them was going to be the song, but I've listened to all three and it's none of them- sorry!

I will get round to recording myself singing it this weekend and putting it online. It's going to be the only way I think!
