'A Song for all Seasons' by Renaissance. The hit single from it was 'Northern Lights'. They were backed by an orchestra. It's still to this day one of my favourite albums.

Elton John's 'Yellow Brick Road' must surely have a place too.

It all depends of whether I'm feeling noisy or not.

        Not so noisy first....
David Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars
        The Who - Who's Next
Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
        Pink Floyd - The Wall

Shouty, angry young (ok, not so young) man...
Crass - Feeding of the 5000
        The Saints - (I'm) Stranded
Iggy & The Stooges - Raw Power
The Fall - Live at the Witch Trials
Quick... Run... Hide... Here comes Dave Stewart, walking up the drive, with that look in his eye!

                      .
One of my favourites too. Jon Camp's bass playing is tremendous on this album. The album got me through a difficult time in my life.

Great list and I can add so many more to it like Jethro Tull's living in the past and Crimsons Larks tongues, Caravans land of grey and pink, both of the Hatfield and the North's albums just for starters.

Indeed. I think I've seen Tull live more than any other band, but thought I'd only name one album from each of my favourite bands in my list.
