    Re: Wrong lyrics

Here's another misheard song circa 1985:

I don't want to change the world
    I don't want to change a rainbow

The second line should really be "I'm not looking for New England"
    I am 13 ... times 4.

Madonna- La Isla Bonita. "Last night I dreamt of some petrol" and Papa don't preach I always thought was "bubble gum bridge"

Speaking of La Isla Bonita, I thought San Pedro was some bagels. In the chorus of Simon & Garfunkel's 'I am a rock', I thought island was onion.

I love this thread. I can think of a couple more.

Someone mentioned Good King Wenceslas. I bet there isn't a person here who didn't sing "Good king Wensless last looked out..."

I also sang "We three kings of Orientar". Thought it must have been some far off country.

And having just looked at another thread, another revelation!

"And you'll always find him in the kitchen at parties"
                I thought it was Barney's.

Remember the Old Spice adverts of the late 70s and early 80s? I mean the ones which featured the song "O Fortuna" from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. Being as I was a kid at the time I thought the song went like this:

                    Old Spice Old Spice
                    Old Spice Old Spice
Old Spice a la la la-la
                    Old Spice Old Spice
Old Spice a la la la-la
                    (crescendo)
                    Old Spice Old Spice
Old Spice ah ah a la la Old-a-ning Spice
                    I am 13 ... times 4.

Further to that post, I've just found this video of O Fortuna with misheard lyrics:
                      http://www.wimp.com/ofortuna/

The trouble is, being as the first time I ever heard O Fortuna was on an Old Spice advert in the 70s, I've become rigidly accustomed to it being the Old Spice advert tune, that I still think of O Fortuna as the Old Spice tune, wherever I hear it.
