I loved playing the "text" adventures, most starting off in a room, with no key,I'd spend hours searching the rooms, finally getting out side to find monsters, mazes, towers, rivers and caves blocking my way, getting so far then putting in a command only to be told you are dead!Well frustrating,I'd love to be able tp play again, I loved typing in all those orders and directions.

Is there anywhere on line to play these games, I ve been searching but the only ones I can find, are multiple choice where you just tick one of three or four options,I want to get typing!
    Thanks for any help

These are classic text adventures that run within your browser.

I remember spending ages play the text game of 'The Hobbit'. Good fun but never finished used to get trapped down holes and stuff.

Yeah - that was annoying - but the game as a whole was great. 'Sherlock' by the same company was brilliant - except for the 'Leatherhead' bug!

You should be able to buy a retro game machine off the net,I still use my old spectrum 48k,wouldnt part with it for a million pound, has lots of adventure games with it

Not so sure Daz - remember three weeks ago you downloaded Mickey's Speedway, tried to find emulators but after three attempts you had to give up

Surely if you can get the real machine at the right price......

I can only assume I was using an emulator that didn't run on XP.
I have no problem running Master System,NES, MAME, etc.

                        Re: Text Adventures

I must admit that I can't stand emulators. It may sound nerdy (in fact it does!) but playing old tv console stuff on pixel perfect monitors makes it look all wrong (although that obviously doesn't matter with text adventures ).

I'd much rather have the original machine and games.

Nothing beats a good old fashioned joystick, when playing you need something to grab on too (again not text adventures)
