What looks even more cool are kids riding vintage bikes.

Last summer I spotted a kid that must have been about 7 years old riding an Eagle Dodger. It looked like an imitation of the Raleigh Strika with the same style forks. I can't find any info about this bike.

Both myself and my partner were at Ingoldmells this bank holiday weekend and saw a couple there, the male riding a Raleigh Chopper and the female a Raleigh Grifter, looked cool as anything to me...I was quite envious

I have been wondering what will happen to all the preserved Raleigh Choppers when the 50 something owners become too old for them in their retirement years.

I can't honestly see many kids wanting to ride them around. Therefore a danger exists that in 15 or so years time their value will plummet and many will end up down the tip.

Yes there were unfashionable until nostalgia for the 1970s started in the 1990s.

i can well imagine an original chopper would go for good money.

i had an original one and i wish i still had it.

one of the best bikes raleigh ever made.

i saw one in a shop window for yrs up until around 3 yrs ago.

it was a shop that sold tools and was in good nick.

wish id asked about it,really regret that.

in fact one of the best period.

how different was the one mate with all these modifications from the original.

    Re: Raleigh Chopper

I've got a MK III from more recent times....the changes Raleigh made irk me a lot-3 speed handle bar mounted gears, the handle bars are different too as are the handle grips, not on the main chassis, a 5 gear Derailleur would have been better....then theres the separate backrest and seat, why they couldn't have kept the original style seats beyond me as it looks more comfy and easier to lean back on....You can't even simply buy the older parts and stick them on the MK III due to size differences in the connections etc....Health & Safety ruins things....
