  • Arcade memories from the 80s

Anyone one else have fun (or not) memories from inhabiting an 80s arcade. I remember the thrill of the lights and the excitement of the sound and eventual play. I also remember the disappointment of wandering round and round till the big kids got off of the best games. Lol

I ruled a Tempest machine in the early '80s, but it and Asteroids were the only ones I was any good at. I was terrible at Centipede, Pac Man and Ms. Pac Man (especially bad at that last one). There was a game named Gorf I would play just to hear the aliens in it speak their weird language. I never really saw a full blown arcade outside of a trip to Reno, Nevada where the Circus Circus casino had a huge one. We would have no more than three machines in one place, usually at the backs of shops.

Was that the Trocadero or Playland? I used to hang around Soho too.

I think it was the Trocadero.

Yeah I remember playing there too. Not sure I remember Nemesis, though.

80s arcades were my happy place. I still play those games often now thanks to emulation.
