  • Anybody else remember Jingling Joe?

Way back in the very early 70's my mum came back from a trip to C @ A in Oxford St with a small poster which essentially was a piece of advertising material. The poster told the sad and tragic tale of a young man called Jingling Joe who was murdered, I think it was over a girl but my memories are very vague on this one. The story was told in the form of a poem as I remember and the poster was illustrated very much in the style of the time as you might expect. Decades later someone told me that there was a range of jeans for sale in C @ A with little bells attached, don't forget this was the early 70's
I've yet to meet anyone else that remembers that piece of artwork or indeed the jeans. Did any forum members own a pair or even have that poster up on one of their walls?

I remember that everyone was wearing them when I went to Berlin on holiday around 1975:

      Thank you Cartimand!
I was beginning to doubt my own sanity
A silly question perhaps but did they actually have many bells attached, they must have taken a bit of a beating in the washing machine.

I never owned a pair - thought they looked a bit too girlie and always preferred my 501s!
A quick Google reveals a healthy second hand market for vintage Jinglers Jeans.
Looks like the bell doubles as the pocket closure:

Yes I'm with you on the 501's.
We also used to wear Levi orange label drainpipes with our boots.
