  • Strange, smelly toys...

    Right.

In the 80s, I got a bunch of extremely obscure toys - there selling point was that they absolutely bloody STANK.

They where 'cute' rubber toy monsters that smelled of various scents: some just about ok, one (that looked like a cutesy wherewolf) stank SOO bad of a halitosis kind of stench my dad fell to his knees gagging when I opened up the blister pack: 40 mins later, we slung the lot in the trash.

Anyway, if ANYBODY out there knows exactly what I'm talking about, any help with what they where called, and any pics at all are greatly appreciated.

    thanks.

Hello, you're thinking of the toy line 'Breath Blasters' by Axlon. They are hard to come by nowadays but they occasionally appear on ebay. They were banned mostly throughout the eighties because the toys had high lead levels, and the vapours expelled from the toy were toxic. This makes them harder to come by, since they had a short shelf life.

There were six characters to collect...
      George Garbagemouth
      Mackerel Mouth
      Ms Morningmouth
      Victor Vomit
      Deathbreath
      Dogbreath

There is also a similar newer toy series called 'Stink Blasters' they are still in production, and have been since 2002.

THATS the funniest thing I've read on here today. Did the halitosis smell like tonsilith stones smell?! Did you open the packet and say 'here Dad, get a whiff of this?!'

I remember Stinkor from The Masters Of The Universe range was fairly niffy as well.

I wonder if they were as bad as that Fart Gas spray you used to be able to get. That was bleedin' awful stuff.

I remember knowing someone who had a can of that, it stank but didn't smell like a fart either. He used up most of it using it as a flame thrower by holding a match in front.

There was also some spray that looked quite like dog dirt, a friend once went around town spraying it a random.

I've got TWO BOXES full of stink bombs and stink bomb bags. The bags expand and burst with a bang, the bombs are in those little glass tubes and really stink bad! May take some into town today....he he!
