  • Dalek with a ball bearing in its base

I had a few of these, around 1970 at a guess.

They were between 1" and 1 1/2" tall, and came in a range of colours so you could collect them. They had a ball bearing in the base, allowing them to glide along.

Might be a bit obscure but a fun memory for me.

I think they were known as Rollykins, possibly some other toys were made with a similar base.

They were, I used to collect them from about 1965 onwards. They come up on E-bay a lot and good condition ones - with boxes - can be quite pricey.

Made by Marx they came on silver, black and red and broke rather easily. I'm sure they were six d each.

In 1966, they did a special edition "World Cup Willie" Rolykin.

I can recall Rolykins being given away as a promotion if you bought x number of gallons of petrol. Can't recall what brand it was (probably Shell), but have faint memories of my father bringing home 2 or 3 of those daleks and a World Cup Willie.

If its the rolykins ones below in mint condition £50 if they look like that without ball bearing then they are most likely Denys Fisher War of the Dalek pieces I have both.
