does anyone remember or have any pictures of those lovely old fold out cardboard scenes that you could open out and rub your transfers onto to create a sort of story. there was loads of different ones like underwater one, space one, dinosaur one, etc. i remember on a saturday morning walking up to w h smiths in wembley high rd with my sister to spend pocket money on these fabulous things and spending ages on them deciding where to put the transfers, then rubbing them onto the scene with an old penny. think they may have been called letraset but not sure. maybe there still out there somewhere.

Re: transfers
It good that people mention things that may have already being mentioned before because it can bring a new perspective and renewed interest. Plus there is SO much stuff on this site you could miss things totally. I used to buy these Action transfers and I loved the crackley zip as you lifted the backing sheet away

I had 1 or 2 ones where you could create a football snapshot, & often the players arms & legs would stay on the sheet & were tricky to line up to place on seperately.

I feel your pain!
I used to get these once or twice a month when my nan took me down to our local shoe / haberdasher / toy shop. The agony when Mr Russell the man who owned the shop had got a fresh batch in, and so you had a dozen or more to choose from was only slightly less than when you he had only 3 left and they were all things you weren't particularly interested in. My favourites were always the ones that included horses, so medieval scenes, circus, wild west etc were top choice and yes, the misery when you lifted the sheet and found a head or leg still stubbornly stuck there. Sometimes they were all very reluctant to be transferred, possibly they deteriorate with age?
I wish I had a few packs right now, wonderfully therapeutic and calming stuff, they ought to be on prescription. ^_^Last edited by Genie; 27-03-2012, 13:54.
