I remember many of the road safety campaigns shown throughout the 80's, most of which you can see on DVD if you know where to look.
There is one that is eluding me though.
It was promoting awareness at junctions and had a rather distinctive tune to which the lyrics "there's a junction coming, there's a junction coming, lead the road" repeated throughout.
It was an early to mid 80's advert as far as I am aware and featured luminescent green computer graphics to show the car approaching the junction and completing what would be considered a safe turning maneuver.
Anybody have any ideas?? It was real I'm sure.

I remember a public information film that I think was about tyres? It started with a man comming out if his front door to go to work and coughing and a 'reporter' saying "early morning cold start...poor". Then the man slipped on a wet pavement and then the 'reporter' said "road holding...poor".
If I remember right the 'reporter' was Captain Peacock from Are you being served?
What was the title of that film?

Guest repliedI bought the DVD limited edition a few years ago. These Public Information films are some of the scariest shortfilms ever made, and not because of the dodgy 70's clothes and hair!
Some of them will give you nightmares epecially the Scarefest that is Lonely Water!
Some kind soul has uploaded Lonely Water to youtube. Look out for a young Benny Green from Grange Hill!

Re: Another question about public information films....
Mulletino - No, it wasn't there but I found a few long-forgotten gems - thanks!!
MommaMystique - To this day, one of my pet hates is seeing kids jumping around cars unrestrained. Not sure if was the ad's influence, but mine are always strapped in and would kick up a stink if I forgot!

Re: Another question about public information films....
I dont recall this but as a nurse for adults with learning disabilities I can certainly agreet hat it should be shown again. I see too many parent driving with their youngsters unstrapped in to the front seat or worse still having the child standing up ion the back holding on to the front seats. I have had to care for the results of this sort of tragedy too many times. Dont mean to preach but guys.... if you have kids... get a childs car seat! here endeth the lesson
