      Re: Films About the 70s, 80s, 90s

Christmas Day I was round at a friend's house and he put on a gay cult classic from 1978 called "Nighthawks" it's based around the life of a comprehensive school teacher and his ventures into the late 70's London gay Scene. I was amazed at how drab, dirty and run down London seemed to be during that era. I think we all forget how bad things were for most people in the 1970's. Then again I suppose we didn't know any better and what you've never had you don't miss. Was surprising seeing vistas of London Streets with no cyclists! No coffee-shop chains.

The Bodygaurd was excellent a true 1980s film as was Pretty Woman for the 1990s (though it was only the first year of the 1990s). Other worthy mentions are Erin Brockovich and Clockwise. All these represented their respective era's very well I think.

Almost all the films with John Hughes working on them seemed to evoke the 1980s & early 1990s.

Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.
