    macgyver is a u.s. action adventure tv series created by Lee Zlotoff.
    Henry Winkler and John Rich were the executive producers. it ran for seven seasons on abc in the u.s.
    and various other networks abroad from 1985 to 1992. The series was filmed in Los Angeles during seasons 1 2 and 7 and in Vancouver, British Columbia, during seasons 3 to 6. The show's final episode aired on April 25th 1992 on abc the network aired a previously unseen episode for the first time on may 21st 1992, but it was originally intended to air before the series finale.

    The show follows secret agent Angus MacGyver played by Richard Dean Anderson. macGyver always prefers non violent resolutions where possible, and refuses to handle a gun. He works as a troubleshooter for the fictional phoenix foundation in l.a.
    he is educated as a scientist with a background as a Bomb Team Technician in vietnam countdown and from a fictional u.s. government agency.
    the Dept of External Services he is a resourceful agent with a truly a,azing knowledge of science.

    it stars dana elcar and richard dean anderson.

    there where 1 hundred and 39 episodes plus two films.
    the episodes lasted an hour.

    it was an action adv espionage show.

      I really liked it, but it didn't get a good showing over here IIRC.

      BBC1 showed a run in 1989 on Saturdays, but then it seemed to vanish for a few years before turning up in ITV a few years later.

      Terry Nation (Created the Daleks for Dr Who, Survivors & Blake's 7) wrote some of the scripts for it.

        It was also shown over here on rte an irish channel.
        it showed the entire 7 series.
        it did it a few times.
        but i never saw it on the bbc or itv.

          I remember it. My Mum liked it. He was like a one man A-TEAM when he made stuff from nowt. Got sick of it after a while as he always won. And it looked cheapo.

            I could never forgive this yankee serial for shamelessly ripping off the great car chase sequence from The Italian Job. Did the makers of Macgyver really think viewers wouldn't have seen the movie?

                It wasn't similarities - they actually used the Italian Job footage! It was the 'Thief of Budapest' episode.

                    That was just the most crass example. Macgyver was infamous for 'recycling' stock footage in pretty well every episode. It annoyed the hell out of me!
