      Re: Xmas tv

The movies I fondly remember seeing on TV during the Christmas season were:
      -- The Sound of Music
      -- Laurel & Hardy's Babes in Toyland
      -- It's a Wonderful Life
      -- Gulliver's Travels (1939 animated film)

The last one being my particular favorite

As someone else states, always a buzz with regard to the Xmas specials:Fools N Horses
        M & W et al.

I think I righ in saying some sort of Two Ronnies compilation is still shown every Xmas Day.

The biggest focus in our house though was Fools and Horses

yes watership down im sure will be on even tho its not a christmassy programme but lots of shows arent christmassy but are still shown every year.

i often wonder are some things shown just cause theyre always shown or because they do get big viewing figures.

You can have sound of music on xmas or easter time.It does get tedious when they show the same stuff.I dont like musicals these days seem them all before.
I would like to see films that dont come on tv that often at xmas time

The Wizard Of Oz is another film that always seems to be shown at Xmas time even though it's not really seasonal.

I guess they are shown as they are the sort of "feel good fun for all the family" affairs.

                  Re: Xmas tv

There are some shows that can be shown anytime such as musicals.

But films etc that used to be shown are now not shown i do wish the queens speech would go away though.

And im sure there are many christmas type shows that could be shown and never are.

The quality in the last 10 yrs is noticeably worse than the previous 20 yrs ive noticed it a lot.

THEY SHOULD SHOW THINGS FROM EACH DECADE FROM THE SIXTIES ONWARDS THATS WHAT I WOULD DO.

Did Tiswas and Swap Shop do Xmas specials? I can't remember!

As for what I would like to see - there is a site that details most of the TV Times and Radio Times of Christmas past here

TV Cream has noticed that there are normally a lot of old school comedies & sitcom spinoff films shown over the Xmas period.
