    Re: Yorkshire TV Programmes

Yorkshire TV was responsible for one of the best spy dramas ever; The Sandbaggers. Not set in Yorkshire of course, but made by YTV

I liked I Didn't Know You Cared, very dry humour. I remember some outdoors scenes between the indoors bits.

Emmerdale is wonderful to me because it was filmed in the area where my Mother's family were, and some distant relatives no doubt still are, between Bradford and Bramley, West Leeds.

Some of the '70s Brontes Of Haworth serial must have been shot in Yorkshire.

I remember a Ripping Yarns episode in Yorkshire... the Michael Palin character always checking the rain gauge as there wasn't anything else to do for entertainment, and his Mum's blood pudding having gotten to where even the white bits were black.

Was that the one where he was supporting the local football team, Barnstoneworth FC?

That Ripping Yard was titled "Golden Gordon" According to IMDb... Plot: Barnstoneworth United is a small football club, once successful in the Yorkshire Premier League, now losing every game. One of their fans, Gordon Ottershaw (Palin), who has named his son Barnstoneworth United, comes home after every lost match and smashes the furniture in fury. His wife Eileen quietly accepts this, although she protects the valuable family clock on the mantelpiece. She keeps trying to tell him that she's having a baby, even putting notes in his lunchbox, but he seems not to notice. After an 8-1 defeat by an elderly team ("Eight One - Eight bloody One! - And even that were an own goal!"), it is decided that the club will be disbanded and the ground sold to a scrap dealer.

The other Yorkshire set one with the jokes about the rain guage and black pudd was "The Testing of Eric Olthwaite"

                Oops, Ripping Yarns.

Just ordered Tom Gratton's War on DVD, a Yorkshire production of the late '60s set during WWI!
