Even at the time some Monty Python sketches were controversial, & sometimes had to be edited out of repeats.

Luckily a complete Blu ray set is coming out which has reinstated a lot of material where it still exists.

Dad's Army is still shown on BBC 2 on Saturday nights, so hardly a programme that would "not" be shown nowadays.

Even when Dad's Army was being thought up the creators were worried it would be seen as mocking the real Home Guard. I guess it's still shown as it's quite easy going.

Allo Allo did get some complaints of trivialising the work of the French Resistance, but managed to last due to it's farce elements.

Altho they do on forces tv some of them anyway.
I agree with you here darren and about the Forces etc

How on earth Dad's Army has survived repeatedly being shown as it is so Cheesy and not as it Glorify's war, but makes a mockery out of a subject that should'nt be mad a mockery amazes me

Growing up I never got Allo Allo, but comparing that to Dad's Army is completley different in that it creates jokes and fun out of War settings. To me Dad's Army should have been axed years backIi feel!

I cannot believe how Rising Damp is repeatedly shown - I have always thought of the sitcom as being a satire on private renting, and the "couldn't care less as long as I get my rent at the end of the week" breed of private landlords. Even my own family talked me out of staying in such a property, and one can understand why.

Only When I Laugh is better because hospitals and doctors make a great subject for comedy shows - my favourite Carry On films were Again Doctor, Nurse and Matron.

Seeing a clip of it on YouTube is bad enough.

Yes, it would be shown on your own TV if you put the DVD on.

I don't think that it will ever happen - sitcoms like that are in the past.

I assume that was due to Sid James' character and his antics - the only disclaimer I can think of is warning viewers that the cast are probably wearing flares or something.

It was still very tame compared to the more recent Shameless.
