Never realised that!

I thought that almost everyone realised that.

Wasn't Tiswas, The Saturday Show (Tommy Boyd and Isla St Clair), and No 73 great? - being ITV programmes, and also circa 1981-1984, we got ad breaks with adverts for Walls Funny Feet; toys made by Peter Pan and Palitoy; games made by Action GT; and the odd PIF.

Saturday Super Store replaced the Swap Shop. They still had Chegwin but it just wasn't as good.

Clapperboard came on before Tiswas in most parts, That was popular!

I wasn't quite sure if it was Posh Paws or Plush Paws.

It was Posh Paws - an anagram of Swap Shop, and not the title spelt backwards.

Tiswas had some moments of genuine humour... seeing Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford of Genesis dressed as flowers during a segment called compost corner and getting 'watered' by Lenny Henry is pretty good, but a little kid from Birmingham dressed as a rabbit singing the song Bright Eyes from Watership Down at the end of the Easter program is priceless!

The Banana Splits had some great music. I forget, wasn't some of it written by Barry White? Have a CD someplace...

I thought the Swap Shop dinosaur was Posh Paws.
Am I the only one to remember The Banana Splits?

There are some Multi-Coloured (and later I guess less colourful) Swap Shops on youtube courtesy of the BBC TV Archive. So if you're missing seeing a young Noel Edmonds and Keith Chegwin (r.i.p.) and their purple Paws dinosaur pal...

I watched an edited 1976 show (three members of ELO in Swansea) and a less edited 1980 one (vet from All Creatures and June Whitfield). I think they have to limit the cartoons to opening/closing bits for rights reasons. Fun to hear the music of the day(s) and see as well as hear for a few. I think someone in Pudsey won something (part of my family are from near there, Bramley).

For me it was Swap Shop, I was never a fan of the "chaotic" types of show as a child, even now the cartoons of the ilk somewhat irk me.

Also, Going Live, Live and Kicking, those ones later on.

I remember getting up early to watch the Wide Awake Club.

The 8:15 From Manchester was another must see Saturday morning show.

I Was Wondering If You Used to look forward to kids tv on a friday or saturday morning,

i had afew growning up .

stuff like

chucklevision & dick and dom in da bungalow.


and in the late 90's rugrats,postman pat, budgie the helicopter . babar. Bodger & Badger

and many more.
