Iconic Tv moments

Anyone recall any stand out iconic tv moments from the past that they seen as they were broadcast. Some things have obviously been repeated on those channel 4 top 100 shows but these are etched in my memory as I seen them first point

some poor contestant ending up in a ditch and the marshalls who were trying to assist him kept falling in too, Peter Purves apologising for laughing at the situation

most of these can be seen of YouTube, obviously taken from recordings of it’ll be alright on the night, but the canned laughter does seem to spoil the clips

Catchphrase

The Snake Charmer round, where Mr Chips appears to be committing a lewd act, but when all the squares were removed it was perfectly innocent.

Countdown has had a few good moments, but normally they seem to leave out rounds with rude words.

Going Live! - Elliott Fletcher being profane to Five Star on April Fool's Day 1989 - I have this feeling that it was an April Fool's joke in the making.

The Time The Place - The show goes off the air after a guest accuses the show of racism. John Stapleton asks Security to get rid of the guest and all hell brakes lose.

National Lottery Draw - The Fathers 4 Justice people storm the studio minutes before the Eurovision Song Contest is due on air (remember Daz Sampson and Teenage Life?)

Six O'clock News - Another "how did they get past security" moment - the lesbians protesting.

That's Life! - Grant Baynham having a bucket of water tipped over him because he wouldn't stop smoking.

Channel 4's 100 Greatest TV Moments from Hell was a great source for a lot of those sort of things happening.

Another memory is the Stan Boardman "Fokkers" joke on Des O'Connor Tonight - rumour had it that Thames TV had banned him from appearing on any more of their programmes as a result.

I am getting into the spirit of things now...

Rod Hull's Emu (well, Hull himself to be honest) attacking Michael Parkinson on his chat show (the Emu also attacked others, but the Parkinson incident was what he was most famous for).

Oliver Reed getting drunk on what appeared to be a jug of orange juice on Michael Aspel's chat show.

Julian Clary "Norman Lamont / Red Ballot Box" on the 1993 Comedy Awards.

David Icke on Wogan "they're laughing at you..."

George Best also on Wogan.

An April Fool's joke which was read on a TV-am news bulletin on Sunday 1st April 1984 about Albert Tatlock being killed by Libyan hitmen - meanwhile, the news had broke the actor Jack Howarth who had played Tatlock in Coronation Street for over 23 years had passed away in the night. Some viewers had complained to say that the spoof news story was offensive and malicious.

April fools on tv was always a hoot
i fondly remember the Lirpa Loof on Thats life
there usually was a spoof article on Nationwide and I recall watching an episode of pebble mill on April the 1st waiting to spot the leg pull.
however as the show was finishing up, all seemed normal until the last announcement was made that one of the stories they aired was completely made up for April fools

Dennis Taylor in his "upside-down" glasses gesturing "I told you so!" with his right hand when he beat Steve Davis in the 1985 final.

Was there any particularly memorable wrestling match between Big Daddy Crabtree and Giant Haystacks? Or even wrestling events in general. I haven't looked at any in decades but I remember my grandfather always watched wrestling avidly for years. There was quite a variety of it back then.
