  • Trying to identify a BBC children’s documentary show from the 70s

This was presented by Magnus Magnussen and he told stories of folklore etc .
all I remember was the theme tune had words like “ from history and to mystery, and there are tales to tell”
I remember hearing a story of a banshee wailing and if you heard it the three times, you would die , something like that anyway.

    absolutely terrified me

      Definitely Unsolved Mysteries.
Another few lyrics from the theme were "of wonders far and wide". There was a story of a Tudor woman who beat a child to death for spoiling his schoolwork with ink, her painting was shown hanging in an old house.
Another told of a drummer boy who beat his drum as marched into a tunnel or perhaps some kind of obscure entrance to an old building and was never seen again.
I can distinctly remember seeing a picture of Tutankhamun's gold death mask next to the listing for Unsolved Mysteries in The Radio Times, he must have featured in one of the programs too, probably regarding the curse.
I'm going to have to have a dig around on the good old internet later to see if I can find anything about the Tudor Woman and drummer boy.
