Details are a bit vague but trying to identify a television series aired the the UK in the early 80s. It featured a short man with mousy hair in a bob and possibly a fringe. He wore some kind of tunic and in his hand was either a mechanical box or a triangle and it opened up, possibly twisting as it did.
