chaps...one thing to bear in mind.... a hydroplane ISN'T actually a plane of course
Its a fast boat that skims across the top of the water (like those huge racing powerboats that you see flip over on 'World's Greatest Videos' type progs), or those boats powered by the big fan on the back (as in the Florida Everglades)
Hopefully the original poster can confirm if it DEFINITELY is a hydroplane?
Do you remember a TV series from the 70's-early 80's, set in the Tropical area, probably the north of Australia or caribean?
In this series the main characters - father, son and a pet (dog or other) were always using their hydroplane
If it's the one I'm thinking of, it was set in Florida's Everglades and called "Everglades" - similar genre to "flipper", etc. If that's the case you're thinking of "airboats" - hydroplanes are generally surface skimming racing boats. I saw this in the early-mid 70's but the series was filmed in 1961.
