That could definitley be it! Even the title sounds right.

      deepwaters *calls*.

      Where are you?

EDIT: In fact the more I think about it, the more I'm sure that was the title!

chaps...one thing to bear in mind.... a hydroplane ISN'T actually a plane of course

Its a fast boat that skims across the top of the water (like those huge racing powerboats that you see flip over on 'World's Greatest Videos' type progs), or those boats powered by the big fan on the back (as in the Florida Everglades)

Hopefully the original poster can confirm if it DEFINITELY is a hydroplane?

                AND THE WINNER IS....

                Huggie74 - 'Bailey's Bird'

Thanks a lot. I bet you know the relief that goes on on ones mind when such a long standing memory fault disappears.

It was good fun waking up and reading all your post. Seems you've a nice group of people around this forum.

It was my fault calling it an hydroplane (mother language influence) when it is mostly called a seaplane.

As you can imagine I'm an aviation enthusiast and the info about the 'Tales of the Gold Monkey' can become quite good. I'll look around for it.

All the best for you all
                Pedro

Do you remember a TV series from the 70's-early 80's, set in the Tropical area, probably the north of Australia or caribean?

In this series the main characters - father, son and a pet (dog or other) were always using their hydroplane
If it's the one I'm thinking of, it was set in Florida's Everglades and called "Everglades" - similar genre to "flipper", etc. If that's the case you're thinking of "airboats" - hydroplanes are generally surface skimming racing boats. I saw this in the early-mid 70's but the series was filmed in 1961.
