    Re: Most haunting TV themes

Good call for Noah's Castle - that's my current ringtone!

Personal favourite though has to be the little-known, never repeated end of the world sit-com 'Not With a Bang'. Beautifully haunting guitar solo played by Rod Argent.

      ^Mr Pedantic here
The guitar solo would have been played by Clem Clempson as he guessed on the song. Rod Argent is a keyboard player

Thanks for the correction! You wouldn't know where I could get hold of a copy of the theme tune I suppose?

The one that springs to mind straight away is the one from children of the stones.Nothing ever comes close to being that haunting or chilling.Even now it still has the power to un-nerve me after all these years.

The theme from Poldark is quite haunting.

I used to enjoy 'Not With A Bang' and I've got a 7" vinyl copy of the theme tune somewhere. I wish they would release that series on DVD.

The whole version of the 'Picture Box' theme is even stranger than the bit that was used on the titles. A couple of times it slows down and appears to fall apart with unusual notes before picking itself up again and continuing with the recognisable tune from the TV show.

I always used to find the early '80s version of the 'Krypton Factor' theme tune a bit unsettling at the time. I'm not referring to the Art Of Noise's later edgy version, but the tune I'm referring to was a strange electronic keyboard version which, when I think about it now, probably wasn't that odd, but at the time I didn't like it much.

Don't know if it could be classed as haunting but the tune that is played at the end of the hulk when David Banner is walking away usually thumbing for a lift, always gives me a sad emotional feeling.

I would say that 'Callan' definitely comes in this category. http://www.televisiontunes.com/Callan.html
