Re: what's Up ****? Educating Marmalade

Educating Marmalade was one of my all time favourite kids shows. It was great! Starring Linda la Plante under her real name too I am led to belive. Although that might not be true, i'm a bit gullable and belive what people tell me! Charlotte Coleman was great in it though!
    Heaven knows I'm miserable now.

Yep, this is one of my favorite 80s shows, it's ace! Marmalade is properly rebellious, the show is the kids' show of the Punk Rock generation... great theme tune by Bad Manners and loads of completely unsubtle innuendo that kids' TV nowadays would never get away with!

This show needs a DVD release urgently, long live Marmalade!

i dont think any kids show these days would have a girl saying "what's up C---K!"
Charlotte Coleman passed away at such a young age (only 33) a very sad loss.

There you go, told you I'd go back through the old threads and I've learnt something. I could have sworn that the theme tune was sung by Ian Dury!, Just googled it and found I was wrong.
I loved Marmalade Atkins and to me it sort of sums up 1980's CITV in a nut shell, it was a very different type of programming from BBC. I don't think kids get much of that type of programmes now, such a shame!

Are you thinking of "Profoundly In Love With Pandora" by Ian Dury from Adrian Mole?

I just about remember this, it seemed a little odd because Charlotte Coleman was slightly too old for the part.
