I totally agree! The early Brookside episodes were fantastic. Bobby and Sheila Grant and Billy and Doreen Corckhill were great. Loved It!!

Martin Shaw didn't like The Professionals to be repeated or released for many years, but eventually relented. He didn't just want to be associated with one part.

I heard about that one as well. He seemed a bit embarrassed about it on The One Show a while back. I think he's done so much high profile stuff recently, though, that his reputation as a serious actor has grown considerably in the last ten years. First thing I think of now is Judge John Deed.

The BBC have had some rights issues with using music, leading to some show having to be redubbed or whole scenes cut out.

Daria took years to be released on DVD due to the high use of music, & the cost of re-editing it out. Shoestring had similar issues.

Martin Shaw didn't like The Professionals to be repeated or released for many years, but eventually relented. He didn't just want to be associated with one part.

Another problem was writers (or their estates) wanting too much money for the use of characters, Doctor Who has had 1 or 2 problems in this area, not just with video & DVD releases.

I'm not sure how much I can say on an open internet forum, but there's a reason one programme in particular people keep asking for will never come out on DVD, to do with the fact that a number of the actors got ripped off for repeat fees in non-UK territories. So if the company involved ever attempted to release it on DVD, they'd get so much legal s**t from said actors over existing moneys owed that it just wouldn't be worth their while.

Out in the public domain is James Bolam's refusal to allow the Likely Lads to be repeated or released till well into the 90s because of some dispute with Rodney Bewes (which I assume was then resolved). So I can imagine that for this and the one other case that I know about, there may be dozens of programmes that can never be seen again because of such issues.

'Seaview' is another programme I'd like to see on DVD. Yvette Fielding was one of the kids in this Blackpool-based B&B children's drama. I remember that the mother was played by Maggie (Wavy Mavis off of 'Open All Hours') Ollerenshaw.

I loved this programme. I'd really like to see it again. Love to see both Adrian Mole series on DVD too.

Another DVD release i'd like to see is 'Dodger Bonzo and the rest'. Prob add 'Jossies Giants' and 'Johnny Briggs'.

The Wonder Years - Absolutely wonderful programme about a guy called Kevin Arnold who narrates the story of his childhood life between 1968-1973. Although this setting is well before my time I think its such a fantastic show with a grown up Kevin telling us about his experiences during his younger days and what he learned from them. I only really started watching this proper when Channel 5 aired it on a sunday morning about 6-7 years back, I think you can now see it in the evening on one of the ITV channels.

Unfortunately though, because of the amount of music tracks which are used throughout the show, The Wonder Years has never been released on DVD in all its glory. This show would just not be the same without its music though, hopefully one day somebody will be able to find the cash to pay for the music rights as I'm sure many people would love to buy this on DVD.

I have to mention one of the final lines spoken by adult Kevin in the final episode though, its just an awesome line - “I remember a place, a town. A house like a lot of houses. A yard like a lot of other yards. On a street like a lot of other streets. And the thing is, after all these years, I still look back, with wonder.”

What A SHOW!!!...........It is right about the Music issue but I bought the eBay bootleg and I get so much enjoyment out of it. It would be GREAT on HD DVD 3-D BlueRay Suppa Duppa RedRoy Delux Director's Cut Collectors Edition and I Would Certainly buy it in the unlikely event of its release but until that distant day my bootlegs will see me through thank you.

And I Do remember the Kids from 47a..

There was a childrens series in the 70s called Kids from 47a that nobody seems to remember, and would love to see Beryls Lots released.
