i had tons of them as a kid wonderful books.

I noticed a copy of the Ladybird book "Your Body" in the charity shop where I help out recently. That's another one I used to have.

No I didn't buy it for myself. I think it was in fairly good condition. All I know about it is that it was first published in 1967.

Loved the old Ladybird books. only had the factual ones, the stories didn't do it for me. What to look for in Spring, Summer etc, The Weather, Flags, Rocks and Minerals. The artwork was how I pictured the 50's and 60's. Always had adream of trying to get an updated version done iwth a Janet and John type boy and girl finding things on a country walk......syringes, condoms, bunt out cars, accosted by a pervert, mugged by a feral gang before getting blitzed on Lambrini at a bus stop. All done in the original type art work!

I remember these Ladybird books, we also had loads of these in primary school. I loved the ones about things like:- The Road Makers, The Car Makers, The Story of Television, The Story of Lighthouses Lightships and Lifeboats, and there was a few Ladybird books on the Motorcar which would show you cars like the Mini, Ford Zephyr mk4, etc etc and give you the details about each model.

There was also a Ladybird book about The Miner and his work in the colliery. My grandfather was a miner, always worked on the repair shift nights. This was my favourite Ladybird book. Have not seen it now for over thirty years.

There has just finished an exhibition about Ladybird books at the De La Ware Pavilion in Bexhill on Sea. A complete history with books, original art work.
Didn't read them myself but fascinating exhibition. Soo middle class!
A good look at social history.

Anybody remember this story. I remember it being read to us in class when I was around five year old, 1972/3. It became one of my favourite Ladybird stories.

I had a copy of The Magic Porridge Pot, it might still be up my parents loft, they might get the Ladybird books down when my niece is old enough for them.

At the moment most of the Ladybird books are up my parents loft, me & my brother had a lot between us, which were passed to my sister then put away when she got too old for them.

but I know Tootles The Taxi is on a bookshelf, so I might get a picture of it next time I'm visiting.

In a local charity shop i saw tons of them some pretty old ones but theyd been scribbled all over in marker pens.

I purchased some early ones recently from a charity shop, but did not realise some of the pages were missing at the time. Looked as if somebody had cut the pictures out here and there for framing or scrapbooking. I was surprised the charity shop sold the books in that condition.
