Just want to say how fabulous this thread is. The pictures uploaded are fantastic and bring back lots of happy memories for me. Special thanks to sixtyten for spending so much time on this.

Looking at it all once again reminds me how bad a lot of today's packaging is and how much manufacturers need to learn from the past. Just one example is Cadbury Fruit & Nut (it would be great to see an old pic of this) which used to come in beautiful gold foil and paper wrappers with sophisticated-looking artwork before Cadbury phased in horrible plastic packaging - always makes things reek of mass production and conveyor belts in my opinion - and lifeless computer generated artwork. The 'specialness' I used to associate with the product faded quickly and the brand just became another cheap and cheerful chocolate bar. Anyways, I live in - probably overoptimistic - hope people will eventually realise the errors of their ways.

                  All the best,

                  Matthew

Very old bar, but still in the traditional gold, purple & white

Only just noticed, now I see them side by side. There are two different types. The one sold now, and throughout the years always appears to be Raisins & Almonds.
But a few of those wrappers say "mixed nuts" & show Cashews and Peanuts
