I seem to remember there being also being "Pot Rice", it was some sort of curry flavour, possibly chicken. This would have been late 80's or early 90's. I much preferred it to Pot Noodles. You had to leave it to stand for longer though, otherwise you got a disgusting mouthful of crunchy partially hydrated grains of rice!

I remember pot rice and it was curry flavour, it seemed to disappear in around 1998/99. Wish they would bring it back. I do like the Bombay Badboy Flavour pot noodle.

This thread being bumped up had just reminded me of when I boiled a kettle to make both a cup of tea and a Pot Noodle (chicken and mushroom flavour of course) at the same time to save time and energy - I wasn't concentrating on what I was doing, and I ended up accidentally putting the Soy Sauce in the mug of tea instead! It really made the Pot Noodle taste horrible without it!

I may be the only person in the world who enjoyed the sweet and sour best but such a small sachet of sauce why even bother?

I recently bought a Chicken and Mushroom Pot Noodle from the supermarket here, and a couple of other flavours when back in the UK last month. They tasted "lacking" in the salt department, it seems the recipe was changed in 2006 (after I moved to Australia) to make them "healthier" including reducing the salt content. I never used to put the Soy Sauce in as it didn't need it, but the new less salty version deffo requires a flavour boost.

They redesigned the Pot Noodle logo in around 2006, so perhaps that was when the recipe was changed? I saw them in Asda around the same time and I almost didn't recognise them on the shelves!

On the subject of Pot Noodles, my brother once came home drunk, made himself a pot noodle, put a plant pot (with plant) in the bin and the empty Pot Noodle pot on the window sill where the plant previously was.

I remember eating Pot Noodles whilst at Uni 1976/79. They were rank and tasted like elastic bands in gravy!
Pot Mash.....dried potato and some flavouring. Even now ( I am 62 ) if I am feeling nostalgic I will get a box of dried potato , reconstitute it and mix in some cheese and HP sauce! Living the dream
I also used to survive on Findus crispy pancakes, toast toppers, Vesta Cow Mein/Chop sued ( the one with the crispy noodles that looked like toe nail clippings )

Weren't Pot Noodles introduced in around 1977? I saw one of those "I Love..." programmes for that year a few years ago where they showed an old advert for Pot Noodle, although I actually thought that they had been around in Great Britain for a few years before that.

Pot noodles were one of my post club munchies "meals". I had a habit of nodding off when I was drunk so was banned from using the oven so it was a pot noodle mixed with a packet of smash, sometimes on bread. It stopped when a 24/7 garage opened nearby and we got a microwave.

My friend who got me into eating them used to like cutting up slices of bread into soldiers & dipping them in, & I found the chicken & mushroom ones taste nice when eaten with Seabrook salt & vinegar crisps, especially when you tip the crunchy bits in.

The sachets are pathetically small, why dont they put more in for gods sake?
