Re: Food you were brought up on.
'POBS' was guaranteed to help me lift whatever was making my tummy poorly!Originally posted by LaineyT View PostWhen I was ill as a child I always remember my mam giving me "pobs" its was white bread in warm milk. I remember my dad making corned beef curry ....a whole tin of Fray Bentos corned meat and a tin of Homepride curry sauce.
It was an aquired taste lol..

I think the corned beef curry would have helped too!

Re: Food you were brought up on.
I used to love Bovril sandwiches, instead of Marmite LOL, my dad got me hooked on it! - Later on my Mum freaked at my dad, thinking that I'd get BSE lol
My favourite was white bread, crusts cut off, then rolled flat with a rolling pin, butter and Bovril, rolled up into a cylinder. YUM! I'd drive my poor mum mad ordering round after round of "Bovril rolly-polies" LOL!!

Re: Food you were brought up on.
another thought when I was young you could tell the day of the week by your evening meal as;
Mondays-left overs from the week-end
Tuesday-mince and tatties
Wednesday-Home made soup and pudding
Thusday-stew and tatties
Fridays-Fish( and i'm not catholic)
Saturdays- a high tea if we were lucky
Sunday- a roast of some sort(chickens were only for Christmas)The eyes have it!
