Does anyone else remember Saucy Tanners?
I suppose they may have only been in the 60s, but could have changed name in the 70s.
They were a little cone shaped tub filled with vanilla ice cream, strawberry sauce on top and a gobstopper at the bottom, lush!
Great Forum! Anyone here remember Polar Pudding Pantries- They were Custard Ice Cream with a Rapsberry Filling and a Chocolate top with Hundreds & Thousands on similar to a Fab but nicer. Not sure who made them, it was back in the Mid-Eighties. There were sold in Boxes of 6 only I think , at the supermarket. I can't find reference to them anywhere on the net though!
I was a thoughtful child and one day it occurred to me - 'if it's "non-milk fat" - where's the fat from??'
Put me off ice-cream for--ooooh - about 3 hours ('til the raucous sound of 'oh when the saints go marching in' was heard from outside heralding the impending arrival of the creepy sweaty guy that was out ice-cream man) and my mouth started watering...
Oh - the summer of '77
Their light of pocket torch, of signal flare,
Licks at the edge of unsuspected places,
While others scan, under an arc-lamp's glare,
Nursery, kitchen sink, or their own faces.
-Kingsley Amis

Ok yes these pictures are officially from the late 60's..... but based on the fact most of them were still sold into the 70's and a few in the 80's, It would IMO be a crime not post them.
