After a hectic apprenticeship under Roger Corman ,

    - You're a Big Boy Now- for his Master's Degree at
UCLA. Three years later, he was a highly paid writer and Oscar winner. By 35, he had directed The Conversation, The Godfather and The
Godfather Part II and was a multi-millionaire. But by 1982, he owed$20m.
This spring he begins shooting Pinnochio in London and Rome.
    Brian Baxter charts
Coppola's rollercoaster career, with contributions from biographer Peter Cowie , composer John Barry , Barry Norman , Kathleen Turner ,

The sixth in Radio 2's series of musicals is a new production of Sondheim's magical score, which contains perhaps his best known song - Send in the Clowns. Described by the composer as 'whipped cream with knives', it tells the story of a group of diverse people who converge for a weekend in the country, and explores the ensuing tangled web of relationships. Heading the cast are Keith Michell and Betty Buckley.
