with Folk on 2 Tonight's guest is the singer who gave Bob Dylan his first break. When
Carolyn Hester was making her first major album in the early 60s, she needed a harmonica player to stand in for her father, who was unable to make the recording. She invited a young man she'd heard playing in a Greenwich
Village coffee house to fill in. His name was Bob
Dylan, her record producer was impressed - and the rest is history!

Kathleen Ferrier remains one of the century's best-loved voices, remembered for her performances of songs such as Blow the Wind Southerly and Ye Banks and Braes.
Born in Lancashire in 1912, she travelled up and down the country singing in concerts and operas until her death at the tragically early age of 41. With the help of some of Ferrier's favourite recordings, and the memories of those who worked with her and knew her, John Steane sets out to recapture the essence of a great British singer.
