R.I.P. Sir Patrick. An absolute hero of mine. The man was responsible for my interest not just in astronomy, but in science and engineering in general.

I'll miss him terribly.

I think and truly believe that Patrick really was "Mr Sky at Night", in every way imaginable. Patrick truly made Sky at Night what it was with his immense knowledge on astronomy etc that few can match what-soever.

Wow, some of us were talking about his stint as the Games Master in the games thread just the other day too. He seemed like such a good bloke and so enthusiastic about science and astronomy, what a character he was too. Truly one of a kind, RIP Sir Patrick

Just been reading the Guardian's Comment is Free on-line. They get Patrick's age wrong and the comments include 'horrible man. Glad he's dead'!
