  • 1970s Kids Tattoos in a packet what were they called?

    Hi,

    What was the name of the tattoos us kids use to buy from the shops in a packet? we used to wet the back of out hand put on the square white paper and watch the ink turn a different colour as it put a picture on your hand? anyone remember what they were called?

      Were Garbage Pail Kids stickers or tattoos? - I used to see them littered around the school in the late 1980s.

        They were stickers, I still have a few I stuck in a book.

        Cookie is probably thinking of stick on transfer tattoos, the ones I remember came in a packet with some gum. They stuck quite well & normally needed a good soak to wash them off.

            I remember those ones, looked just black ink but once you wetted your hand or arm, thE colours would show. Too much water and you ended up with a messy splotches of colour

            our newsagent used to also get them in an a4 sheet size for a couple of pence but they never looked as good as the ones in the above photo

              I recall a bubble gum called Bazooka from the 70s. They contained a small tattoo

                I remember them coming free inside chewing gum and it the plastic ball from gumball machines

                  Aye i remember those pirate ones, I thought Bazooka Joe just had little comic strips, not tattoos?
