  • Yellow Pages And Telephone Directories Are Getting Very Small!

There was a day when if someone said "It's like a telephone directory" you knew that they meant it was big and thick, and it was something a strongman the likes of Geoff Capes would tear up on the telly, but now they are getting smaller and smaller each year! Saving the planet or saving money???

I've noticed this, BT seem to make more different phone books covering a smaller area, as well as dividing up the residential & company numbers.

I remember when the Argos catalogue was quite small. Now you get a hernia trying to lift it!

I can't remember the last time I looked up a number in a telephone directory. My last yellow pages still had the plastic wrapper on when the new one arrived! Me and the yellow pages have never got on though. It's my hatred of the wild Goose chase that it always sends you on. Taxis?...please look under 'four wheeled cars for hire with driver included'. Grrr!

In the mid 1990s there was some fuss over "Boring - See Civil Enginering" as a cross-reference. I remember a comedian finding 1-2 other amusing ones.

I always wondered if "J.R. Hartley" used in the yellow pages ads was based on J.R.R Tolkien as a child.

We received a Yellow page today - and I noticed they are now getting smaller - it is because more people use their mobile!

give it time and phone books will disappear.
so many other things have gone these soon will.
you will soon to be able to check for a number online.
