Re: Worst Movie you've ever watched?
My dad took me to see Super Mario Bros when it came out and at that age I absolutely loved it, even remember collecting the toys. It is a hell of a strange film on reflection though isn't it? There are many little nods throughout the film to the game but the overall plot and world was very strange indeed. My main complaint as a child was that Luigi didn't have a moustache and Koopa was just a bloke with a spiky blonde haircut. My god, how did they ever get Dennis Hopper to appear in this?
The directors of this film were a husband and wife and were apparently an absolute nightmare to deal with on set, often going off at members of the crew and arguing between themselves. Bob Hoskins himself said it was the worst moment of his career appearing in this and only took the role because his son was a huge fan of the games and thought it would be very cool. I know way too much about this film, sad isn't it?
Interesting though how the film ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger, setting up a sequel that never saw the light of day.........and probably just as well.
