I adore Genesis (I know they started in the 70s, but they were big in the 80s, too!), and I also love X Japan (I'm so happy that they reformed! ), Def Leppard, Depeche Mode and Culture Club.
i loved frankie goes to hollywood my bedroom was full of poster of them, also liked madness, human league, culture club, bros, liked abit of the 2tone stuff- whenever people talk about music they say the 80's was the best.
A few years later, I put that aside for a while whilst I entered into my shame phase of metal (complete with mullet and cheap leather jacket), such as Metallica, Alice Cooper, Helloween, Maiden and the like.
I must admit, whilst I never really took to the pop side of the decade, I did think that The London Boys' '12 Commandments of Dance' album was superb. I picked it up cheap from eBay a couple of years ago, and it's still fresh and uplifting. Don't tell anybody I shared that with you
Nothing shameful about metal !
Saw the London boys supporting Bryan Ferry on the Bette Noire tour if I remember rightly.
I used to love Tears for Fears, and I would play their songs endlessly for hours at a time. I used to think they were the coolest band ever. Bigger than the Beatles, even.
Dad does not like them, but I do. I don't like them as much as I did 4 or 5 years ago, but their most awesome songs were on their second album. I started out getting their Greatest Hits, and eventually they released a DVD that featured most (but not all) of their videos.
When I heard they were reforming, I was really into their music then, so that was totally special to me. I was hoping they'd make it all the way up to the top ten. Turns out their short lived reunion only produced one top 40 hit, and while I loved the track, I wish they had got to number one.
T4F reaching number one in this era is way too much to ask for, so Kanye West just had to sample them on his latest album.
