Does anybody on here like them? Mud were one of my favourite childhood bands and I still like their music today. From their debut psychedelic rock anthem "Flower Power" to their New Wave-ish swansong "Drop Everything And Run" they ruled the UK charts from 1973 - 1977, and scored the best selling UK single in 1974 with "Tiger Feet", which was used in the film "In The Name Of The Father" and the Mr. Bean episode where he accidentally takes a baby to the fairground whilst holidaying at the seaside.
After they split in the early 80's, singer Les Gray went on to work the cabaret rock scene in the UK and Europe, drummer Dave Mount became a kitchen decor salesman, bassist Ray Stiles joined The Hollies and guitarist Rob Davis scored massive No.1 hits co-writing the songs "Groovejet" for Spiller and "Can't Get You Out Of My Mind" for Kylie Minogue, as well as being a record producer.
Sadly Les and Dave both died in 2004 and 2006 - Les from throat cancer, and Dave committed suicide. Ray and Rob recently reformed Mud with a couple of friends to support Ray's son Jack's band Mothership at the Fighting Cocks in Surrey where Mud originated from. They are becoming an in-demand act once again.....
Here are some songs from their glorious days:
