Abba are one of my all time favourite groups - especialy in terms of consistently excellent songs. For me only The Carpeners can be anywhere close in this respect. For as long as I can recall I have liked Abba so so muh going back to the days of my Parents having a Record player and Abba's Records being the main ones we had and then to my Grandparents having a Gramaphone and their remaining few records being Aba and subsequently being my records for a short time when I inherited the Gramophone in it's last days. Abba means so much to me and my childhood - a part of it I'll always recall especialy their famous songs like Farnando, Waterloo, Money, Money, Money and many more besides. Then discovering the 2nd Abba Hits CD (it's name I have forgot it's name) after the 1st Abba Gold was an amazing piece of popular music history I adored at the time and still do to this very day.
That pianist from ABBA is absolute magic! Too bad they split up and were replaced by all the A grade BS you get nowadays. Whatever happened to REAL music, I'll never understand.
It's ironic that ABBA were regarded as throwaway pop at times.
I remember the term "Real Music" being used at the time Britpop started go astray in late 1997, mostly by Indiekids who couldn't understand why the music press was turning it's back on the scene.
