  • Singers that make you shudder!

Watching a programme on Fleetwood Mac the other night reminded me how much I detest Christine McVie's voice. I know many people would disagree but for me she's the equivalent of chalk on a blackboard....

Billy Joel for one - I have to switch the radio off when Uptown Girl comes on. How did that get to number one originally?
I've everything I need to keep me satisfied
There's nothing you can do to make me change my mind
                      I'm having so much fun
                      My lucky number's one
                      Ah! Oh! Ah! Oh!

It's not my sort of music anyway (I'm prog rock and heavy metal), but whenever I hear the limp, falsetto warblings of Sam Smith on TV or radio, I cannot help wincing.

Must admit that I'm not much of a Rush fan - only have one of their songs on my playlist (2112 Overture/Tempels of Syrinx) and I can see how his voice could become irritating. Mind you Jon Anderson of Yes can get screechy at times, but I can forgive that, due to the music being utterly sublime!
