Irritating Songs - God, I HATE Them!

You know, there are some songs that are just plain irritating, and make you want to throw the radio out of the window in anger. Here are just a few of my own musical anathemas:

1. So Macho
2. Bad Boys Always Catching My Eye
3. It's Raining Men
4. Don't Marry Her, Have Me
5. Je'Taime

Any of YOU got songs that just make you want to plug your years to drown them out?

Also any neo-folky twee infantile rubbish that has lots of whistling and xylophone.

I'm not sure if it counts or not, but I suppose it is a song...I'd like to put our national anthem into Room 101. Such a slow, momotonous and boring song..it's no wonder nobody wants GB to win anything at the Olympics !!

I appear to have used the lesser common spelling of monotonous there, but I'm glad you agree. I may start a post asking people what should replace it...I'm sure there would be many amusing suggestions.

Some songs mentioned I actually like!, & most aren't even novelty ones, even though I have a soft spot for quirky songs.

Some novelty songs can be laughibly bad, but many are just plain bad:

Holiday Rap - MC Miker G & DJ Sven

The Birdy Song - The Tweets

No Way - Vanilla

Anything by Black Lace

Lady Marmalade / Under The Bridge - All Saints

Cotton Eye Joe - Rednex

Amnesia - Chumbawumba

Have I The Right - Dead End Kids (The Honeycombs version of this is great, but Dad had reckons this lot were a poor man's The Bay City Rollers after seeing it on TOTP2)

Changing the national anthem is a classic "silly season" story for the papers when they are short of real news to report (& sometimes when there is!)

Apols to any Ant fans, because many of his songs were quite good (Antmusic, Cartrouble, Dog eat Dog etc) but I LOATHE Prince bloody Charming. That really is a dirge that just goes on and on and on, no real verse or chorus, just a mindless chant that plods and plods. I had the misfortune to hear it in PC World at the weekend and I remembered how much I hated it when I was at school - I just think 'when's this gonna end?!'

It was Adam and the Ants last number one I think, it stinks of him thinking 'we can release any old rubbish now and itll get to number one because of who we are'. Later Frankie Goes to Hollywood releases had the same problem.

Maybe he was trying to cash in on Royal Wedding mania with the title?

I have to disagree with that statement,
Hip hop & punk rock are some of the most original & influential musical forms of our time.

(And by that I certainly don't mean the horrible diluted versions that most of you are familiar with)
