I have been listening to Heart Xmas on Friday (my DAB digital radio has it), and I have been acquainted with most of them again this year:

      1) Merry Xmas Everybody - Slade
      2) Lonely This Christmas - Mud
      3) Merry Christmas Everyone - Shakin' Stevens
      4) Do They Know It's Christmas - Band Aid (1984, not the later versions)
      5) Mistletoe and Wine - Sir Cliff Richard
      6) I Believe in Father Christmas - Greg Lake
      7) Wonderful Christmas Time - Sir Paul McCartney. (Ironically enough, I was listening to Heart Xmas yesterday evening as I was preparing the evening meal, and it came on just as I was putting some Linda McCartney sausages into the oven - how ironic is that?)
      8) Merry Christmas (War is Over) - John Lennon and Yoko Ono
      9) White Christmas - Bing Crosby's version only
      10) Step into Christmas - Sir Elton John
      11) Last Christmas - Wham
      12) Mary's Boy Child - Boney M
      13) I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day - Wizzard
      14) Saviour's Day - Sir Cliff Richard again
      15) Feliz Navadad - that Spanish Christmas song
      16) Rocking Around the Christmas Tree - the original, although Mel (Smith) and Kim (Wilde) did a version for Comic Relief in 1987.
      17) Wombling Merry Christmas - Mike Batt
      18) Father Christmas Do Not Touch Me - The Goodies
      19) Christmas Alphabet - Dickie Valentine. (First Christmas number one to be a song about Christmas)
      20) Millennium Prayer - Sir Cliff Richard yet again. (Played at a family funeral).
I've everything I need to keep me satisfied
There's nothing you can do to make me change my mind
      I'm having so much fun
      My lucky number's one
      Ah! Oh! Ah! Oh!

Thanks - you did say Top 20, so I decided to rack my brains in order to give a complete list.

I have always liked the lyric: "look to the future now, it's only just begun" on Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody - it always feels like optimism for the year ahead as we end one year and start another, and that is why I chose that one first.

I have always said that there's nothing quite like listening to that song on a personal radio on a bus after you have done your Christmas shopping on the Friday before Christmas.
