      Christmas songs that make me cringe? Every single one of them! Same stuff year in, year out - it's annoying and boring!

      Whatever happened to the true meaning of Christmas?

        I googled my Phil Spector Xmas album, and here's something that surprised me:

        'In 2003, the album was ranked number 142 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the top 500 greatest ever albums' !!

            Don't be too hard on the man who gave us "Yesterday" , "Michelle", "She Loves You", "Band on the Run", "Maybe I'm Amazed"

            I agree that Macca needs an arrogance by-pass but he has written some fine tunes!
            I go back to the original Jethro Tull - Yes! The seed drill inventor!

                  Christmas songs bar humbug! Not religious and christmas songs are dull and boring.I enjoy the time off with family ,the swopping of gifts, and the food and drink.But Not interested in all the pomp and circumstances with church service and the queens speech.Not my cup of tea.But millions still enjoy that and there welcome to it!Not for me!

                      Sorry Chris, but the Macca Christmas songs are THE WORST!!!! Like another poster above, I used to work in a "Christmas Songs on Continuous Loop Vol 365" environment and hate nearly all of them - ESPECIALLY "Wonderful Christmas Time". I have to leave shops when it comes on, no exaggeration.

                      In the meantime, your avatar has sparked off a long forgotten memory. Is that really "Joe" I'm seeing? I'd forgotten all about him, but I do remember loving him as a kid!

                          I do have a soft spot for cheesy Christmas songs (one's by Macca, included) but my favourite by far has to be 'What Are We Gonna Get 'Er Indoors' by George Cole and Dennis Waterman. Pure class

                            I still love the original Band Aid's 'Do They Know It's Christmas', it still makes the hair on the nape of my neck rise but the re release was awful! Also love Wham's 'Last Christmas' and of course 'Fairytale of NewYork'..RIP Kirsty.

                              You're a woman after my own heart, Ann, you've named 3 of the only 4 Christmas songs I like!!!!! (Fourth one being Mary's Boy Child by Boney M).
                              All the others suck as far as I'm concerned. I used to quite like Greg Lake's I Believe in Father Christmas, but when you listen to the lyric it's actually quite depressing.

                              Band Aid and the Pogues/Kirsty always bring a lump to my throat.

                                I too love 'Mary's Boy Child' Mazzer, it brings me memories of my childhood of when I had butterflies in my stomach with excitement!
