i like this thread, there are many songs that i can think of. One of my favorite songs of all time is unchained melody, and i normally only like the Righteous Brothers singing it, but this version is ok...YouTube - U2 - Unchained Melody

The first half of OMD's Joan of Arc is really haunting imo. Also on the cheesy side of haunting we have Kim Wilde's Cambodia. 2 often overlooked 80's classics!

Just remembered this gentleman from when my mum used to play his LPs,still enjoy listening to him now,I knows its 60s but this performance was in the time period and its a great tune,a few of his friends join him on this one.

The theme tune to "Harry's Game" circa 1983 by Clannad always brings me out in goose bumps, as did "Once in a lifetime" which they did with Bono. Don't know her name but the lead vocalist of Clannad has a very haunting voice.

'Now is here' and 'I will find you' by Clannad are ones that get to me. I have to agree about Soft Cell 'Torch', something strange about it.
